Youth and Government has provided me with an environment that catalyzes my passion for politics. The social network of 2,000 politically inclined high school kids from across the state has inspired me to give back not only to the program, but to my community. The 2008 conference in Sacramento got me so jazzed on government, I sought out an internship in the state senate over the summer.

Y&G has impacted my life in several ways.  The most important being that it has taught me that communication is key when trying to make a decision.  Without communication, it is very difficult to exchange ideas and understand the ideas of others.  Communication means listening to the opinions of others, voicing your own opinions, and lastly, learning how to negotiate and compromise.  Youth and Government has made me a more open-minded individual.

Youth and Government has impacted my life through the rlationships I have formed, the knowledge I have acquired, and the strong leadership abilities that I have attained through my hard work. It has inspired me to pursue a career in government one day and has made me a stronger person. I have met some of the most important people in my life and learned so many valuable lessons due to the program and I am forever grateful to the wonderful people who made this program possible
Sabrina Rodriguez,  SGV Glendora

Since I was forced into the program by my older sister that had been part of Youth and Government the years before I was eligible, I have grown into a strong, spoken, and knowledgeable citizen of California. This program taught me to use my strengths to become a leader and guide other delegates to step out of their comfort zones and find their place in improving the program. Hopefully all delegates are able to use their experiences from this in the real world with keeping active in government, being a better student and worker, and even just staying social and voiced
Amanda Wilens, El Dorado

Y&G gave me confidence to step out of my comfort zone and take risks. The amount of nerves that went into giving a speech were reciprocated with 20 times the confidence I had going in. even now that I'm no longer a member of Y&G, I'm still continuously reminded of it through the lasting friendships and the confidence that has stayed with me to try things I never thought I would.
